What causes them? Any food source, especially sugar, and the weather getting warmer. ?With more people at home, there is more food around and it also means more time to notice the pests in your home.

What’s the most effective way to get rid of them?

White vinegarWiping surfaces especially doorways with vinegar cloth spray bottle.

Essential scentsUsing scents and oils like lemon, bay, cinnamon or peppermint

Ant nematodes The best non chemical control for black ants. The ants do not tolerate the nematodes near their nests and will move their nests to a different area. Apply to lawns or flower beds – perfectly safe for humans straight after applying.

What causes them?Heat, light, sweat, warmth, oil, dead cells, open wound. Anything in the kitchen that is not wiped properly will attract a fly. The fly will also leave markers which will attract other flies.

What is the most effective way to get rid of them?

Move exposed foodGet rid of all exposed food in the kitchen – the dog bowl, the fruit bowl, the sink etc, there are certain smells which flies loathe. ?

OilIf you are bothered by a lone fly causing havoc in your bedroom at night then simply drop off?peppermint oil, lemongrass, eucalyptus, camphor, and cinnamon.

CorksAdding a cork to the fruit bowl – the cork material absorbs moisture put off by the ripening fruit and activates a fragrance from the cork that fruit flies are none too pleased about.

What causes them?Mosquitoes breed in the warmer months and they favour select environments – standing water, such as ponds or filled buckets, are prime breeding grounds. Female mosquitoes lay their eggs in clumps on top of the water.

What is the most effective way to get rid of them?

Citronella candles and burning coilsMosquito repelling incense usually made into a spiral, and typically made using dried paste of pyrethru powder.

ThermacellUse a burner like thermacell – the liquid butane ignites inside the device and heats up a blue mat containing allethrin. At a certain temperature, the allethrin releases from the mat into the air, producing a smell that’s barely noticeable to us but that mosquitoes apparently find repugnant.

What causes them? There are five things that will surely attract a wasp to your home or property, such as warm spots to build a nest in, insect availability, leftover meat, sweet foods, and flowers.? At this time of year it is more likely to be meat they are drawn to, then at the end of the summer they are attracted to the sugary drinks and fruits.

What is the most effective way to get rid of them?

No swatting!Swatting at a wasp tells it to release pheromones that will trigger other nearby wasps to perceive you as a threat.

Cover foodCovering up food or putting it back indoors is the obvious but most effective solution.? If they cant get at food they will soon move on.

AvoidAvoid bright colours and floral patterns and avoid wearing strong scent and perfume.
